"Shadow Man is book #2 in the Lash series. I recommend reading the first book, Lash, to get a clear character history. With that said, the Lash series is an original and interesting collaboration of shape-shifting species operating on a mafia-like social model. There is a flexible pecking order that can be earned through respect. However, most species don't like to mix. Thematically, comparisons can be drawn to our own world with relation to gender, race and social-economic status. Prejudices, biases, morality, ethics and loyalty to family are significant and prevalent. A study in parallels can be made and would make for an interesting group discussion."
